i don’t like driving in the rain

especially at night. isn’t it just the dickens? BUT, in a thunder/lightning storm, driving along casually in a car watching the storm approach is pretty neat. rubber tires = where i want to be. especially when the storm is directly overhead and the thunder is so close it sounds somewhere between cannon, gunfire, and sonic boom. well, i guess it IS a sonic boom, but whatever. i was thinking planes. anyway, the point is that watching a torrent (and not the kind with a ‘bit’ in front of it) come in can be absolutely amazing (and terrifying if you’re in the wrong place). my favorite part is probably when the sound of the rain drowns everything else around you out. :) the appropriate immediacy- forget the past, stop thinking about the future, look at now! and if you happen to not be sheltered- feel it! there are of course varying levels of storm, but let’s stick to describing the friendly (by friendly i mean the kind that doesn’t rip trees apart) kind. one of the best things has got to be getting drenched by warm rainwater- it’s comfortable and you learn to hate AC. both positive things. and best of all, those monsoon-ic rains usually leave behind (usually) the most refreshing air you’ll ever breathe.

I love me a good storm, too . . . from the smell in the air as it approaches, to the freshness in the air after, and every moment inbetween. Literally awesome. :-)
